Andrea Coleman is a Brooklyn-based writer, performer and lawyer originally from Virginia. She writes sketch comedy, stand-up comedy, screenplays and stage plays. She’s been featured in The New York Times, TimeOut NY, NPR, Forbes Magazine and Entertainment Weekly. The law comedy show she created and stars in “Wack or Woke? Andrea Coleman Judges the Law” aired on PBS. Her Medium articles have been viewed over 900,000 times.
Andrea has performed at Joe's Pub, RISK!, UCB, Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip, Gotham and Caroline’s. She's toured her stand-up at San Francisco Sketchfest, Women in Comedy Festival and Austin SketchFest.
Andrea has written, produced and starred in 5 short films that were Official Selections at 16 Film Festivals. One of her short films, BFF, aired on BET and AspireTV. Her feature script Stealing the Strad was selected for IFPs 2010 Film Week.
She was a member of The Chain Theatre’s New Play Development Program, Art House Production’s INKubator Playwrights Cohort, and Fresh Ground Pepper Playground Playgroup. Her short plays have been produced at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, Eureka Spring Theater Company, Firecracker Productions and Hot Metal Arts Collective. Andrea previously interned for the Director of New Play Development at the Orlando Shakespeare Festival. Her play "Secrets" was a Second Rounder in Austin Film Festival's Playwriting Competition.
Andrea practiced law in New York City for 17 years and has tried 30 jury trials. She’s currently touring her hilarious and inspiring solo show “3 White Guys Named John” about how John Hughes, John Mayer and Jon Bon Jovi changed her life.
